This is a real lost gem.
The A side version harks back to the old 1990 WARP Bleep and Bass Sound, with a delicious bassy groove and funky bleep riff, syncopated clonks and fizzes, and a female fifteen inches long exclamation pushed through just the right amount of reverb.
Then after about 5 minutes, the riff breaks out into some extra notes and a few party screams are thrown into the mix before it breaks down for a heads-down percussion and bleep session. I wouldnt be surprised if Rob Gordon had a hand in this, Forgemasters after all are credited with remixing it on the 7 Hills Clash Rebuilt EP, if not him, then someone else from the old WARP crew like Mark Brydon or Parrot may have been involved.
The B-Side is a rather different affair with a shuffly breakbeat rhythm and the vocal sample cut into shards and some awesome wobbly sub-bass, more inventive production-wise but not doing it for me like the A-side does. |
