The A side starts with a nice uplifting vocal track -- hence it's name - Lift me up - and it's got a great organ bassline which you don't hear too often. The second track on the A side is quite interesting. It starts off like a classic acid track should with the 303 in full effect, but then it becomes very dub-like out of nowhere (think: low bassline and piano melody) which is pretty sweet. About halfway through it goes back to acid and with that said the track is overall quite neat. B side is a pretty good dub (more like a remix) of the first track on the A side. I think this is probably the "weakest" track on the record as it's more repetitive than it should be. That said I can still see myself mixing this as it's perfect for a nice long blend. Dance music is funny sometimes, it may not sound great on it's own, but mixed this could be a pretty epic track. It's even got a crazy buildup half way. Overall I gave this record 4/5. It's not great but it compliments the rest of my acid records quite well. Also, I always love the colorful characters Nervous Records put on their labels. NPC82 Apr 2009 |
