Cameo's masterpiece production-wise! This was one of their first digital productions (produced and mixed digital) - so this 'crazy' bass player and band-leader Larry Blackmon came up with the idea of a song where the bass wanders back & forth and wrote a song around it = Here it is - I got this on on the 'Word UP' CD (DDD) , so that effect comes across perfectly - When Larry starts playing his Lead part on the bass , you can actually hear it creeping out of the bass-boxes/sub-woofers and spot it wandering around , till it reaches the midddle of the soundscape and then moves slowly back towards the bass-boxes again ... shortly before the bass reaches 'home' it gets swapped in - swoooop - Good Lord this effect really rocks !!! Respect to Cameo and especially to Larry Blackmon , who always came up with fresh and exciting ideas - an innovator , that used the possibilities of new recording and sound productions to the max. jussumen, Jan 2004 |
